New Delhi, India (December 25, 2025): Marking a historic milestone in India’s journey toward becoming a global railway powerhouse, the Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) officially launched its dedicated digital platform today. The launch commemorates the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, celebrated nationwide as Good Governance Day (Sushasan Diwas), reflecting the Chamber’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric innovation.
Bridging a Century-Old Institutional Gap
For decades, global railway giants have been supported by powerful industry forums—such as the Association of American Railroads (AAR) in the United States, the International Union of Railways (UIC) in Europe, and the Australian Railway Association (ARA). These bodies have been instrumental in setting global standards, driving research, and unifying private-public interests.
Despite possessing the world’s fourth-largest rail network, India has lacked a similar dedicated, non-governmental industrial chamber. The formation of the Rail Chamber fills this strategic void, providing a unified voice for rolling stock manufacturers, technology integrators, and infrastructure developers to engage directly with policy makers.
Architecting "Viksit Rail 2047"
The Rail Chamber is established with the core objective of supporting the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 and Viksit Rail 2047 visions. As Indian Railways transitions toward a $30 trillion economy goal, the Chamber will serve as the primary engine for:
Technological Sovereignty: Promoting indigenous systems like KAVACH 4.0 and Vande Bharat platforms.
Policy Advocacy: Streamlining bottlenecks in manufacturing and supply chains through active industry-government consultation.
Global Benchmarking: Aligning Indian railway standards with international best practices to boost export competitiveness.
Commemorating Good Governance Day
By launching the website on December 25, the Rail Chamber honors the legacy of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose tenure saw the foundational push for mega-infrastructure projects in India. The Chamber pledges to uphold the ideals of Sushasan (Good Governance) by ensuring data-driven advocacy and ethical industry practices.
While the digital gateway is now live at www.railchamber.org, the formal physical launch will be marked by a Grand Opening Ceremony in New Delhi (date to be confirmed). The event is expected to be graced by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways, alongside the Chairman of the Railway Board, top technocrats, and captains of the industry.
"The Rail Chamber is not just an association; it is a movement to ensure that the 'Viksit Rail' of 2047 is built on a foundation of Indian innovation and collaborative leadership," said a spokesperson for the Rail Chamber.
