The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) is registered as a non-profit Section 8 Company under the Govt. of India’s Company Registration Act, 2013, committed to:

  • Bridging skill gaps through non-profit training initiatives
  • Conducting public-benefit technical and policy studies
  • Ensuring transparent governance and non-commercial operations

Our key objectives are designed to promote commerce, research, education, and social welfare within the railway sector, as permitted by Section 8(1)(a).

I. Promotion of Commerce and Industry Standardisation

  • To promote and facilitate the collective growth, knowledge exchange, and cooperation among Indian railway-related industries, service providers, and technology developers.
  • To encourage and advocate for the adoption of best practices, globally recognized quality standards, and ethical business conduct within the railway ecosystem.
  • To provide a non-commercial, neutral platform for industry stakeholders, policymakers, academic institutions, and international bodies to hold discussions and forums focused on the future of railway infrastructure and manufacturing in India.

II. Research, Development, and Knowledge Dissemination

  • To conduct, sponsor, or facilitate non-proprietary research and studies into advanced railway technologies, including high-speed rail, safety systems, signaling, and sustainable energy solutions for rolling stock.
  • To establish knowledge repositories, publish technical white papers, and disseminate educational materials concerning policy developments, technological advancements, and operational efficiency improvements in the railway sector.
  • To organize educational workshops, seminars, and technical training programs for students, professionals, and government officials to enhance their understanding of complex railway systems and emerging industry trends.

III. Advocacy for Sustainable and National Interest

  • To represent the non-commercial and collective interests of the railway industry before governmental, regulatory, and non-governmental bodies, focusing on policy frameworks that encourage long-term, sustainable development.
  • To promote and support initiatives aimed at improving railway safety, accessibility (e.g., for people with disabilities), and public utility services in an inclusive manner.
  • To advocate for and research environmentally friendly practices, including carbon reduction strategies, waste management, and the use of renewable energy sources in railway operations and manufacturing processes.
