New Delhi, India (May 20, 2026): The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) is honoured to announce the appointment of Shri P. Dwarakanath, Former Chairman & Managing Director of BEML Limited, to its Advisory Board.
A highly respected industry veteran and visionary leader, Shri Dwarakanath brings more than four decades of rich experience across the rail & metro, defence, mining, and infrastructure sectors. His distinguished career has been marked by transformational leadership, strategic expansion, and significant contributions to India’s indigenous manufacturing ecosystem.
Shri Dwarakanath joined BEML in 1978 as a Management Trainee and went on to serve across all three major business verticals of the organisation — Rail & Metro, Defence, and Mining & Construction Equipment. He was appointed Director (Rail & Metro) on the Board of BEML in 2008 and later served as Chairman & Managing Director from 2012 to 2016.
Under his leadership, BEML achieved several major milestones, including the establishment of India’s first state-of-the-art metro rolling stock manufacturing facility. He played a pivotal role in diversifying BEML’s rail business into suburban and urban transportation systems, while also laying the roadmap for medium and high-speed rolling stock manufacturing in India.
During his tenure, BEML witnessed significant business growth, enhanced technological capabilities, and a substantial increase in market capitalization. The company was also recognised as the “Best Turnaround Company” and received the prestigious SCOPE Award presented by the President of India.
Beyond BEML, Shri Dwarakanath continued to contribute to India’s strategic sectors through leadership and advisory roles with organisations such as Reliance Defence, Titagarh-Firema, Siemens, and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL). His contributions have significantly supported technology partnerships, indigenous manufacturing, and expansion of rail and metro infrastructure in India.
