The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber), India's first and only dedicated industry chamber representing the railway sector, has announced a significant milestone in strengthening India–Russia railway cooperation following a high-level meeting with the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in India.
A delegation led by Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General, Chamber of Railway Industries, met Dr. Aleksan Kagrimanian, Head of Aviation & Railway Construction at the Trade Representation of the Russian Federation in India, Ministry of Industry and Trade, at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in New Delhi on 8th June 2026.
During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation in railway infrastructure, rolling stock manufacturing, rail technology, signaling systems, logistics, and industrial partnerships between India and Russia. The discussions also focused on promoting business-to-business engagement and facilitating participation of Russian companies in India's rapidly expanding railway and mobility sectors.
Dr. Aleksan Kagrimanian welcomed the initiative and accepted the invitation extended by the Chamber of Railway Industries for Russian companies and industry stakeholders to participate in the 6th RailTrans Expo 2026, scheduled to be held on 3rd & 4th July 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The participation of Russian companies is expected to create new opportunities for technology collaboration, investment partnerships, joint ventures, and knowledge exchange, while further strengthening the longstanding strategic relationship between India and the Russian Federation.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General, Chamber of Railway Industries, said:

RailTrans Expo 2026 is expected to bring together policymakers, railway administrations, metro authorities, infrastructure developers, technology providers, manufacturers, investors, and industry leaders from India and around the world to showcase the latest advancements in rail transportation and explore new avenues for cooperation.
The Chamber of Railway Industries is also working towards establishing a long-term framework for India–Russia railway cooperation aimed at promoting trade, investment, technology transfer, capacity building, and industrial partnerships between the two nations.
