New Delhi, India (June 5, 2026): The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) is proud to announce that Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Limited (MRVC) has joined the Chamber as its First Institutional Member, marking a significant milestone in the Chamber's mission to foster collaboration between railway institutions, industry stakeholders, technology providers, and infrastructure developers.

MRVC is a distinguished Public Sector Undertaking jointly owned by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India (51%) and the Government of Maharashtra (49%). Established in 1999, MRVC serves as the Special Purpose Vehicle responsible for planning, developing, and implementing railway infrastructure projects under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP).

Over the past two decades, Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Limited (MRVC) has played a transformative role in modernizing and expanding Mumbai's suburban railway network—one of the busiest urban rail systems in the world—through capacity augmentation, infrastructure upgrades, signaling modernization, station redevelopment, and passenger amenity enhancement projects.

The corporation has been instrumental in developing new railway corridors, adding rail lines, improving operational efficiency, reducing overcrowding, and supporting sustainable urban mobility for millions of daily commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

Welcoming MRVC to the Rail Chamber, Dr. Vinod Shah, Director General, Chamber of Railway Industries, said:

"We are honoured to welcome Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation as the First Institutional Member of the Rail Chamber. MRVC has been at the forefront of transforming urban rail mobility in India and has created a benchmark for railway infrastructure development and project execution. Their association will significantly strengthen our efforts to build a collaborative platform connecting government institutions, industry leaders, technology innovators, consultants, manufacturers, and railway professionals."

"As India advances towards modern, sustainable, and integrated transportation systems, partnerships between public institutions and industry will become increasingly important. MRVC's participation will provide valuable insights and help promote knowledge exchange, innovation, and best practices across the railway ecosystem," Dr. Shah further added.

The onboarding of MRVC as the first Institutional Member reflects the growing recognition of Rail Chamber as a national platform dedicated to supporting railway modernization, industry growth, policy engagement, technology advancement, skill development, and international cooperation.

The Chamber of Railway Industries (Rail Chamber) is India's emerging industry platform dedicated to promoting collaboration, innovation, business development, policy advocacy, and knowledge exchange across the railway, metro, mobility, logistics, and transportation sectors.
